Giới thiệu về CarbonWorks
CarbonWorks là hành trình âm nhạc với nhiều phong cách, ngôn ngữ và văn hóa và bằng cách nào đó chúng được kết hợp hài hòa với nhau. Trưởng nhóm, Neal Barnard, là người trưởng thành cùng âm nhạc cổ điển. Anh chơi piano và cello, sau đó chuyển sang nhạc rock và blues. Khi đang học y khoa tại Đại học George Washington, Barnard đã phải lòng âm nhạc Việt Nam và bắt đầu làm việc cùng các nhạc sĩ Việt Nam để cho ra những bản nhạc mới đầy sáng tạo.
CD Verdun năm 2004 của Barnard với tựa đề “Giấc mơ Ngựa Ô” là bản chuyển thể từ bài hát dân gian truyền thống “Lý Ngựa Ô” (“The Black Horse”). Bài hát được lựa chọn để kết thúc sự kiện do Thư viện Quốc hội tổ chức năm 2009 để tưởng nhớ cuộc tranh đấu của các thuyền nhân Việt Nam tại Khu công viên, dạo chơi Quốc gia (National Mall) tại Washington, DC.
CarbonWorks ghi lại giọng hát tuyệt vời của Phi Khánh trong bài hát "Bên cửa sổ" (“By the Window”) cùng sức mạnh nhạc cụ của Châu Nguyễn trong “Bên cửa sổ”, “Monaco” và "Thần Chiến thắng" (“Winged Victory”).
Những bài hát khác của CarbonWorks được thể hiện bằng tiếng Anh, tiếng Ý và tiếng Latinh trong tuyển tập phong phú, đa dạng và không thể tách rời.

Introduction to CarbonWorks
CarbonWorks is a musical journey through many styles, languages, and cultures that somehow all fit together. The band’s leader, Neal Barnard, grew up with classical music, playing piano and cello, and then drifted into rock and blues. And when he was in medical school at the George Washington University, Barnard fell in love with Vietnamese music and began working with Vietnamese musicians to create new and inventive music.
Barnard’s 2004 CD Verdun began with “Dream of the Black Horse,” an adaptation of the traditional folk song, “Lý Ngụa Ô” (“The Black Horse”). The song was selected for the close of the Library of Congress’ 2009 commemoration of the struggles of the Vietnamese boat people on the National Mall in Washington, DC.
CarbonWorks features the beautiful voice of Phi Khanh on “By the Window,” and the instrumental prowess of Chau Nguyen on “By the Window,” “Monaco,” and “Winged Victory.”
Other CarbonWorks songs are in English, Italian, and Latin, in a compilation that is rich, varied, and impossible to classify.
